Hands out?! What does that ever mean? I’ll let the video explain. The object lesson is potent…

Just finished editing this video recently, so I want to share it with you. I hope you are blessed.

One of the things that makes up a good portion of our content for our other TV networks in South America, Europe, and Asia is nature videos and sacred heavenly music. However when we tried to put nature scenes with just vocal music here in Kenya for 2CBN it just didn’t seem to fit together so well. It just kind of made you wonder who was singing. After spending some weeks praying and thinking about it I decided to try something different. We had recorded video for this particular singing group called Cherubim and so I thought I would try mixing the video of them singing with nature instead of putting totally nature. I think it actually turned out quite well. Check it out for yourself.

Thank you for all your prayers in regards to the developments I described in the last post. Arrangements have been made for housing so this has been taken care of. But please continue to pray for those that have been affected by this.

Also please pray for me as I fly… I’m flying with a lot of the equipment, although not all of it, and counting up the total value of everything is kind of scary! Please just pray that God will watch over it, and that it will get there safely. Pray for me also as I go and do the training and as we launch this project into active production. Please pray for the team, that God will prepare each one. And more than anything please pray that God will not allow the Devil to come in and create problems. As we have already seen from my earlier post, the Devil is already at work, and we must expect that when we are working for God. But God is stronger, and in prayer we can have victory.

And now as to the title of my post, I want to share with you a video that I shot at GYC. I followed David Gates around at GYC, trying to capture what it’s like for him at GYC, and showing how many connections he makes and how many young people he inspires. It’s a half hour show, so make yourself comfortable and I hope you like it and are encouraged by it.

We have a new set in the making, actually two sets, here at MissionTV in the GMI office. We have a studio where we’ve been shooting MissionTV Shows with missionaries, and Extreme Faith Reports with David Gates when he returns from his trips to the mission field. But for the last year we’ve talked about and prayed for a church set, where we can have people come and preach about missions. Nothing really happened until… well, I’ll let you watch the video! It’s only 20 minutes. You’ll also get to learn about the other set as well — the JFA News set.

This video is wrapped as a MissionTV Show Special. We had lots of building materials and stuff spread out in the studio, so we didn’t really have our formal set for MissionTV Show. Another thing that’s cool about this show is that it’s not shot with our regular studio cameras, we decided that I would use my new camera to shoot it. I just got a Canon 60D DSLR several weeks ago, and the video footage from that kind of camera is really very good. This is the camera that I plan to use when I go to Africa to shoot video and do interviews as well as take still pictures. It has very good low light performance compared to it’s professional video counterparts, and it has the advantage of being able to use regular DSLR lenses which offers lots of flexibility. It does come with a few drawbacks but I’m willing to work with them in exchange for the benefits. I’m still praying because I need to get a couple of lenses with Image Stabilization (IS) and it would be good if I can get a wireless microphone as well as a shotgun mic to go on top of the camera. ( I have a shotgun mic already that mounts on the camera, and while it works, this model is not ideal because it’s very sensitive to wind. ) I borrowed Jon Wood’s lens and microphone for this shoot, and it turned out very good. My skill is the biggest lack, as far as smooth camera work, but as I practice more that will improve. Here it is:
