Hi friends!
Just wanted to give you a quick update to say that 2CBN will be streaming a week of prayer being held at the East-Central Africa Division office. It starts tomorrow morning at 8am EAT, and then again in the evening at I believe 5pm. (EAT is GMT+3) The event is through Sabbath, and we are planning to stream it online until then as well. If you would like to tune in and watch, you can do so by going to our website at www.2CBN.org. I’m not sure what it’s going to be like! I’ve never been in on any services from the ECD, but I hope that you are blessed!

I have got my bags checked and made it through security successfully. I’m sitting at the gate of my KLM flight in Atlanta. It’s departing in an hour or so. I’m thankful that everything seems to be going smoothly with the equipment that I’m bringing. Thank you for all your prayers as I travel. Keep them coming! I will post as soon as possible after I arrive.

I have a urgent prayer request that I would ask you to pray about. A sister in Nairobi who has a hotel like center where I was going to stay when I arrived was robbed and the the property was seized. It’s a prime piece of property in town in Nairobi, and evidently someone really wanted it and pulled strings until they were able to get someone to go and steal belongings from the place and take possession of the property. This sister and her family are traumatized and they need our prayers. Please pray especially for them, but also that God’s name will be glorified through the outcome of this incident. Let’s claim the promise found in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good.

Please also pray because this possibly means an added expense for me because I was to stay in this sisters place for free, but now that option seems to be unavailable so other arrangements have to be made. I am already moving by faith, a little short of funds, but God has been faithful and I know that He will continue to be. Please pray that His name will be honored in this respect also.

Thank you for all your prayers,
Daniel

I’ve been waiting for this day! I can finally say that I have gotten my plane tickets! It’s been a long wait, but God has reasons… Anyway, I’ll be leaving for Kenya in a little less than 2 weeks! The 23rd of Jan to be exact. It looked like the equipment coming by ferry plane should come by then, but we’ll have to see. I’m planning to take the essentials with me when I fly so I can do some basic training even if the rest of the equipment isn’t there yet when I arrive. Please pray for me as I prepare to go. I still have some things I need to take care of, as well as some things that I’m trusting God to take care of also. I feel insufficient for the task of starting a media center as it’s something I’ve never done before. But with God all things are possible.

I’ll be spending two months in Kenya, then flying to Cameroon where I plan to visit places that I went in 2008 when I was there. I have a camera now, and I plan to do video work and documenting needs in these different places. There is a lot of need in Africa and there’s not much work being done… at least from what I see. There are schools that need teachers, there are places that need media workers, there are needs for medically trained people, there are many needs.

I just wanted to drop a short note and let you know that I got my tickets. Also watch for an update with a video from GYC coming up…

I just want to give you a little update. Right now we are waiting on the ferry company to have a plane headed to Kenya that can take the equipment. Gary said that it probably won’t be until mid to late January that they will have a plane.

I just want to encourage us all during this season to look back to why this season is special. What is it that makes it special? It’s the time that the world takes to remember Jesus’ birth. But do we really remember it? Do we remember the great sacrifice he made for us? So even though this is a time of year when many people are absorbed in giving gifts and receiving gifts, let us make it a point to remember the gift that Christ gave for us, He gave His life. What will we give back to Him? Will you give your life? That’s what He wants… But not just that, He has given us a command. Matthew 28:18-20 tells us that we need to go and preach to all nations and all tongues… Will you follow His command? “You can Go, or you can Send” or, as John Piper puts it, “you can disobey”. Jesus really does expect us to fulfill this command, and if we are too busy with our own lives then we will miss out on the blessings that He desires to give us, but we may also be found as unfaithful stewards of our Lord’s time and money. I pray that none of us will be in that category, for we must give account for our time and money, as well as our words. I hope that you each have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

I also wanted to let you know that I made an update to the About page, adding a section called: “Why I’m a volunteer”. I share some of my personal convictions, and reasons why I’m a volunteer.

God Bless each of you.
